I'm just back from a seven-day trip to sign books and do readings at Roswell's first
Cosmic-Con and Film Fest, which brought together artists, writers, filmmakers, and fans of fantasy, science fiction, and comics. I sold and signed several three-book sets of
WATERSPELL paperbacks and spoke with many interested readers about the
e-books.
Meeting other SF/F fans and readers was great fun. We had time to talk shop and share stories.
Almost everyone who stopped by my table owned an e-reader or planned to get one. Roswell also gave me a chance to spread the word about the free e-reader apps, downloadable from
Amazon and
Barnes & Noble, that let people read e-books on their computers and smartphones -- no Kindle (or Nook) required! For a list of FREE e-reader apps, please see my
earlier blog post about "How to Read E-Books Without an E-Reader Device."
Now for pictures! I was too focused on books to take many photos, but those below will show you some of what you missed at the
2012 Roswell Cosmic-Con. See you in New Mexico next year?

A lovely passerby. If you know her, send her this picture. It's perfect for her modeling portfolio. |

"Project 12" won Best Feature Film. I'm looking for it at Netflix. |

My neighbor, artist David Blair (http://www.zazzle.com/holidaliens), had an interesting Dark Side visitor at his table. |

On Monday after Cosmic-Con ended, I donated WATERSPELL paperbacks to the Roswell Public Library, which readers have described as a "ridiculously good library" for a town of Roswell's size. |

On the way home from Roswell, we stopped for coffee at the Smokestack Restaurant (http://www.smokestack.net/) in Thurber, Texas. This mural adorns the fence alongside the building. |
